The 21st PASMISS (The 21st Annual Meeting of the Pacific and Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery)

Welcome Message

Dear members and friends

There are only 4 weeks left until PASMISS 2021 will be held.

COVID-19 is widespread not only in Japan but also in various countries of Asia and Pacific, and the momentum that spreads is unlikely to stop.

I am worried that our members are having a lot of trouble every day.

PASMISS 2021 will be held in WEB format on schedule from July 2-3.

The academic meeting in Seoul this April was a great success. We enjoyed the hot discussion from over sea even under these difficult conditions. We are very proud of our Korean friends.

After that, we made a lot of preparations for the NEXT in spite of a very short period of time.

The submission of abstracts has been completed and the program has been completed.

Professor Maki Sugimoto and Professor Koichi Sairyo will give a special lecture on the surgery they are aiming for the cutting-edge surgery. In addition, Professor Yukihiro Matsuyama and Professor Daisuke Togawa will give lectures as invited lectures.

We have prepared 10 PASMISS seminars and 16 faculty lectures,

There are total of 79 presentations in 18 sessions for general oral presentations, and 17 e-poster presentations, all of which are wonderful.

There are only 4 weeks left.

Please adjust the schedule and join us in this exciting conference.

Your hot discussion will lead to the improvement of MIS and endoscopic spine surgery.

Please join us.

Welcome Message

PASMISS
To all members

I am thinking that all the members are doing your best to overcome COVID-19 infection in your society. First of all, I respect your endless efforts under very difficult circumstances.

PASMISS 2021, which was scheduled to be held in Makuhari, Chiba on July 1-3, 2021, was planned to be held locally as before, but COVID-19 is still widespread all over the world. Under these conditions, it is impossible for everyone to gather in Makuhari for the academic meeting.

The annual meeting has been preparing for the hybrid event, but we decided to hold it in a complete web format. For the purpose of this society, it is best to exchange information’s face-to-face with each other. I had expected many overseas spine surgeons to come to Japan to attend the meeting, but I'm very sorry, I have to decide that PASMISS 2021 will be a full web event.

Although the academic meeting will be held in an abnormal condition, I believe that the presentation of new findings and the exchange of new information by spine surgeons should be continued. The purpose of PASMISS is an exchange of new information from each country, and exchanges of friendship with the Asian spine surgeons, but this time I would like to specialize in the Web format meeting, I will take full advantages of the Web style. Since the lectures and other presentations will be on the Web, I have decided on a new theme for the purpose of taking advantages of Web-style lectures.

“The theme is Evolution of spine surgery and future surgery”
We will discuss spine surgery that will become a reality in the near future.
I have selected famous world-leading lecturers who are perfect for this theme.

Special lectures will be on
IT-based surgery (Teikyo University Surgery, Professor Maki Sugimoto),
Full-end scope surgery (Professor Koichi Sairyo),
Invited lectures will be on
Enzyme injection therapy for herniated discs (Professor Yukihiro Matsuyama)
BKP for osteoporosis (Professor Daisuke Togawa).

The PASMISS 2021 CAL(Cadaver Anatomy Lab) seminar planned at Chiba University will be held with a small number of participants, so we will continue to prepare for the success of this seminar. This seminar aims to help young surgeons improve their surgical skills.

We will do our best to achieve a different success than before.
From March 1st, we will start accepting your abstracts on our website. We will announce more details of your presentation methods soon.

I strongly request your cooperation in holding a new style annual meeting.
I hope you and your family are good in health even when a state of emergency has been issued.

Welcome Message

Dear Friends, Colleagues and PASMISS members,

It is my great pleasure and honor hosting the 21st Annual Meeting Pacific and Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (PASMISS), scheduled on July 1st to 3 rd, 2021, at the Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall. We planned a place where many young surgeons to play an active role, such as the VIDEO Award, which is somewhat different from the previous academic meeting. It is presumed that COVID-19 pandemic has already converged by the time of the event, but we are planning to hold it on site, so we will take thorough safety and preventive measures. Please feel free to join us. Each session organizes past knowledge and provides guidance for a new era of minimally invasive surgery.

A Clinical Anatomy Lab (CAL) workshop will be held at the same time in cooperation with Chiba University before this conference, and it is possible to learn from mini-open fixation techniques to full-endoscopic fixation surgery.

Makuhari is located between Narita and Haneda, which are international airports, and is easily accessible. It is also convenient to go to Tokyo city center. Discover the new Tokyo just before the Olympics and Paralympics(TOKYO 2020), especially the Sky tree and Tsukiji fish markets in 30-40 minutes by train. Of course, Tokyo Disney Land (TDL) and Tokyo Disney Sea (TDS are located in Chiba prefecture, and not only you but also your wives and families can enjoy it. Also, please visit Chiba as well as Tokyo. There is Chiba Castle in Chiba, and you can see the city of Chiba from Chiba Castle, and you can see our Chiba University Inohana Campus. If you try to go far, there is Kamogawa Sea World facing the Pacific Ocean. There is no doubt that many participants can enjoy Chiba,
We welcome you with a spirit of "O-MO-TE-NA-SHI" hospitality.

Sincerely yours,

Masatsune Yamagata
President of PASMISS 2021
